Founded in 1496, Santo Domingo was the first city of the new world. It preserved from this time an exceptional patrimonial heritage that can be seen in every corner of the Colonial Zone. This is undoubtedly the most fascinating visit of the country.

We will start by visiting the Cuevas de los 3 Ojos, then head for the Faro of Colon and the Presidential Palace for a quick photo stop.

We will then go to the famous Colonial Zone where we will discover :

  • The magnificient Cathedral Santa Maria de la Encarnacion, first cathedral of The Americas.
  • The Calle las Damas, where you will see some of the oldest buildings of the old city.
  • The National Pantheon, located in an old Jesuit Church erected between 1714 and 1745.

We will have lunch in a small restaurant in the Colonial Zone. Then you will have one hour of free time to enjoy the pedestrian street El Conde, famous for its many shops, it will give you the opportunity to buy some souvenirs of discover th many hidden streets. We will also visit a craftsman who cuts amber and Larimar, the 2 semi-precious stones of the country.

Finally, we will end the day with the Museum of Dominican History, where you will learn how the Republic was formed and how they managed to become an independent country.
